summer = baseball season = fun! there's nothing more fun than a night out at a game, eating a rockies dog, sippin' on a soda and dippin' dots to top it all off! during the summer we try and get out to the games at least a few times with friends or family enjoying the summer nights here in colorado. i've been going to the games since i was little and have kept the tradition alive even into my twenty's. saturday night, my whole family attended the game against the detroit tigers. it was a sold out game, and i've never been to a game that crowded, so it made it more exciting. that particular night was cu at the rockies, which my mom put on this year, so it was obvious we were going to head out there. the last game i went to i bought a new rockies shirt to wear, since my old one still had matt holiday's name on the back, and he had been traded to the cardinals, so it was slightly inappropriate to bear his name on my shirt. i sported my new gear! everyone had a great time! it's always nice to get together as a family. Here are some pics! Enjoy. |

kaia
our dog kaia is the greatest! but that's not to say she's a lot of work sometimes. it's nothing new, but i've notice more so recently that she has really developed a personality that i don't necessarily agree with! she's in her teenage years (i guess you'd say...but she's only 2 1/2) and she's stubborn, doesn't listen, and will do what she wants when she wants. it's annoying! but i also feel bad for the poor thing, because both andrew and i work full time, so she stays at home all by herself for 8 or 9 hours during the day! our weekends, if we can help it our dedicated to her and keeping her active (she's a husky after all), night time after work is dedicated to play time and long walks (dependent on weather), and play dates with other friends dogs. sometimes i think it's worse than having a kid, but then again i don't know since i don't have one. as a doggy mommy, every day i feel guilty leaving her at home by herself or i feel guilty when i make plans with friends or andrew and we know we can't bring her with. i really think she hates me sometimes! haha so it's my goal to make sure that she's taken care of to the best of our ability!
here are a few of her favorite thing:
here are a few of her favorite thing:
mommy in the car looking back at her!
fun toys at the doggy park, or just the doggy park
her harness = going for a run!
doggy friends = play time
head out the window, wind in her fur, not a care in the world!

she works hard for the money
sometimes my work week does not end on friday evening. i work in an environment where events sometimes fall on the weekends and i'm obligated to be there for assistance. this happened more often when i worked at the business school, because my entire job consisted of events. several times throughout the year i'd do this and drag my butt out of bed and put on a smile. every year for the past 12 years or so i look forward to the emba graduation where my sisters and i gladly offer our services and help out for extra money! it's always nice to know that you'll be getting a little extra one month.
for a while it was just me, and then my sisters started helping out (paychecks got smaller) but it was nice to help out! i would wrap gifts, then on the day of, help set up for the ceremony and then set up the gifts i had wrapped for the new graduates! it's a fun time! you get to dress up in fancy clothes, eat baller food and converse with some pretty cool people!.

training for the lpga....
andrew is a huge fan of golf. he's played practically his entire life, and he's pretty darn good. whenever the weather is nice, he'd rather be out on the course then doing anything else, which isn't so good for me since i like to partake in different activities. ever since we've been together we've ventured out onto the course for some quality time together and just escape the issues of the day! the sport has grown on me, and i actually started to enjoy it (mostly cuz i can hang out with him!).

i first started getting into golf when my friend from high school (chris) taught me how to play. we'd go out during the summer and hit balls and catch up at the driving range. i would mostly tag along and use his clubs (obviously too big for me since he's over 6ft) and swing and a miss! then i started hitting the balls rather far, and i thought hmmm...maybe i could get into this.
i then started working at a rec center where i would get discounts on classes, i didn't realize this until the last summer i worked there, and decided to take some lessons with a golf pro. weather would have its way, and a few of the classes got canceled, so i only had about 3 under my belt. what i did learn though i took with me and hopefully some day you'll see me one lpga tour!
the other day andrew and i couldn't agree on something to do, so we both decided to head out to the driving range and take a few swings at the ball, and i'd say i did pretty well! i was hitting the ball straighter and further than i had before, as well as missing less, and being able to use every club (not just the driver!). big accomplishment.

i get bored pretty quickly, in whatever activity i do, and so after an hour i was done and wanted to go home, but andrew wanted to stay, i sat around next to the putting green and cheered him on (silently) and took pictures of my view!

we hope to get out lots this summer, with friends, each other, whoever to enjoy the nice weather and and even better day on the course!
(sidenote: i plan to buy some golf shoes (once i can find a woman's pair that isn't pink! blah) and a cute golf skirt so i feel more festive!)

memorial day, remembrance of those who died in our nation's service
my posts are getting a little out of order. sorry for that.
later that night andrew, sarah and i headed to the rockies vs. cardinals game at coors field. we scored some awesome seats from sarah's company! the weather held out until the very end of the game when it started to rain, but even if it had during the game we would would have been covered, thank goodness. later that night we headed out in denver to the rio for drinks. let's just say it made for an interesting evening.
the rest of the weekend was spent outside and relaxin'! (photo taken from my patio) hope everyone was able to enjoy their holiday!
