food find

the other day a coworker and i had to run an errand for work and we ventured out of the office for a bit.  its nice to get out and not have to sit at a desk all day.  on the way to 23rd and Broadway we passed many restaurants that we haven't tried before.  i rarely ever come down to denver to eat, but i think i'm gonna have to start because there is so much variety.

after we did what we needed to do we were hungry (as lunch time was approaching) and we found this restaurant, the lobby, and boy did it not disappoint.

we thought we'd give it a try.  apparently it was another restaurant at some point, i think brazilian and was recently changed.  they offer american cuisine, which is great, as well provide a wonderful ambiance!  we opted to sit outside on the lovely, spacious patio for lunch.  an escape away from the heat.

so quaint

view from our table
we both had the chopped club salad, and i must say it's the best salad ever! romaine, grilled chicken (i had mine without), bacon, avocado, chopped tomatoes, monterrey jack and cucumber! delish.  if you have not eaten here i definitely recommend it!

the great outdoors...not so much

when i picture camping, i envision myself surrounded by tall pine trees, pine needles/cones covering the forest floor, a stream nearby, and the smell of it all (fire, smores, pine).  i have been camping several times in my life: to turquoise lake, poudre river, and a week long backpacking trip in the appalachians.  you'd think i was a pro, right? not so much.  it wasn't until recently that camping sort of freaked me out a bit.  i've got this weird fear that bears will attack or something bad will happen (look at me, being negative again).  i really need to get over this fear, because i actually enjoy it.  there's something so calming being away from it all and all of our luxuries, secluded in a forest no one around, and the beautiful stars up above.  andrew isn't much of camper either, but i think we need to give it a try.

what we do enjoy though is a little backyard camping.  it's actually fun, if you haven't tried it and you can get away from it all (sort of) without actually having to go anywhere.  i've been doing this for such a long time when we had a huge backyard! my sister and i begged my dad for a very large tent (5 bedrooms) and we'd camp out in it!

i will admit that this tradition has not yet gone away, and i think it'll be fun to include kiddos in the future!  i've gotten andrew to camp with me and my sister as well as pam and her fiance brock, and we've taken over the sawusch residence.  they like it though because it brings all of us together!  we bring out the fire pit, roast up some hot dogs and toast up some s'mores! voila.

we camped out two weekends ago but it rained so we opted to sleep indoors.  but we still had fun none the less.  i'll plan another one before the summer is over (which is coming up fast btw). i didn't take too many pics but just a few in front of the "campfire".

so peaceful

white sox vs. rox

it's a no brainer that when the white sox come to town to play against the rockies we are going to go! it doesn't happen very often, which is why when i saw the rockies' 2011 schedule, i told andrew we had to go!  you see, he is a big time white sox fan, despite being from the northern suburbs of chicago.  normally people will assume you are going to root for the cubs, but he grew up following them and have stuck by their side ever since.  when i first met andy he was sporting a red, white and blue sox hat, and now i only let him where that when the white sox play!  and then there is me, a fan of the rockies, devoted fan to the red sox (don't ask why, i just am)

hey hey hey
on june 28 we headed to coor's field for some summertime baseball, warm weather, bad for us food and a healthy match-up between husband and wife!  there was a good amount of white sox fans in the stadium, i was actually surprised.  though are section was none too pleased when andrew came in sporting his gear and a giant white sox flag he had to hang off the front.  needless to say, the sox ended up winning despite the rockie's win the night before.  there's always next time!

my dinosaur chicken nuggets and fries! wow i'm so healthy!

me in my rockie's gear putting down andrew's flag! people wondered how we could even be together.

i'd never seen this many peanuts in one pod, so i opted to take a pic of it!

happy after the win
i told him that if the white sox won he had to wear the flag as a cape and he gladly accepted.

he's finally my age!

yesterday was my adorable hubby's birthday! he's 24 and loving life! and yes, i am the older woman!

look at that adorable smile!

happy birthday baby, i hope that your 24th year is better than ever!
