oh wow! it's been a month since my last post!
classes have started for this girl once again! i can't believe it! i've enrolled myself in grad school, and i have mixed feelings. it has always been a goal of mine to continue my education past undergrad, and here i am in the preliminary stages of this goal. february i took the gmat exam (sucks by the way) and didn't do too well considering i've always been bad at these standardized test things. it sucks because i am smart and i feel in no way do they actually test on your intelligence but rather how well you can learn the tricks in taking them. but hey people pass them every day, and i'll get there soon enough. so in march i turned in all of my application materials...essays, resume, transcripts, gmat scores, letters of recs etc. in hopes of beginning class this fall. but as many of you know life gets in the way of our plans, and funds do not always last as long as we planned, so i deferred my application for the spring semester. after being discouraged a little bit, i took a step back and asked myself if this is something i really wanted to pursue. i mean i wrote some excellent essays as to why i should be in their program, why it's necessary nowadays but i sort of questioned why exactly. the truth is i like school, i miss it. why give up on something i've always imagined myself doing because of fear...of failing, of not having confidence in myself to do it. so i decided to put in an application to be admitted as a non-degree seeking student. you take classes while working on your gmat exam and hopefully be admitted in the spring. well the good news they admitted me, and i'm currently taking a class at uc denver's business school. introduction to international business. last night was our first class, which meets every monday from 6:30-9:15pm. man o man, mondays are long! luckily my professor (who doesn't want to be referred to as professor or doctor or anything proper) is fun, witty and seems to be very knowledgeable on the subject and will offer a great class. we'll cover topics on naftaa, wto, globalization etc. i'm really excited and can't wait to start my actual degree! i'll post more on the class as we delve more into it!
